Hardwood Decking

Hardwood decking refers to a type of outdoor flooring made from durable, dense, and strong wood species that can withstand the elements such as decay, rot, weathering, and regular foot traffic.

Hardwood decking can not be CCA treated because it has a tighter and more complex cell structure than softwoods, which makes it difficult for the CCA treatment to penetrate the wood effectively.

Furthermore, it is prized for its beauty, durability, and low maintenance requirements. It can be left to weather naturally or sealed to maintain its original color and protect against UV rays.

Our new hardwood decking range:

Our new hardwood range includes 6 different types of hardwood decking namely:

Red Balau
Yellow Balau

Balau (Red and Yellow) Hardwood Decking

Balau is a type of hardwood that is renowned for its strength and durability, with a strength rating that is even higher than that of teak. This makes it a popular choice for outdoor applications such as decking, as it can withstand heavy foot traffic and exposure to the elements.

In addition to its strength, Balau is also prized for its rich, golden to medium brown color, which adds warmth and elegance to any outdoor space. This color can deepen over time with exposure to sunlight and weathering, giving it a beautiful natural patina.

Garapa

Garapa Hardwood Decking

Garapa is a type of timber that is tough and long-lasting. It initially has a golden to yellowish brown color, but over time, it ages into a beautiful grey hue. Despite being hard and dense, it is easy to work with and can be glued and finished well. As a result, it can endure the typical wear and tear that decking is subjected to and maintain its attractive appearance.

Massaranduba

Massaranduba (Bulletwood)

Massaranduba wood is a shade of medium to dark reddish brown, which tends to become darker over time. The pale yellow sapwood is easily distinguished from the heartwood, although the separation between the two is not always distinct. Although Bulletwood is highly dense, it can be easily worked with both hand and machine tools, producing good results. Additionally, it responds well to steam-bending.

Itauba

Itauba

Itauba wood is known for its beautiful color variations. It which can range from a golden brown to a deep lustrous brown. One of the unique features of this wood is that it lacks distinct sapwood. This generally adds to its overall uniformity and consistency in appearance.

Additionally, there are small black oil spots that occur naturally throughout a high percentage of this wood species, which adds to its visual appeal. These spots are not a defect, but rather a natural characteristic of the wood that is appreciated by many.

Red Grandis

Red Grandis

The heartwood of this type of wood has a uniform pinkish-light brown color. The sapwood is lighter in color and usually very narrow. This type of wood is often used as an alternative to Mahogany due to its uniform color, texture, and weight.

Additionally, the consistent grain quality of this wood makes it ideal for taking on all types of finishes. Whether it is stained, varnished, or painted, this wood can hold the finish and produce a desirable result.

Overall…

Hardwood decking can last anywhere from 25 to 50 years or more with proper care and maintenance. These products can be sealed, stained, and painted. Properly sealing and staining the decking can help to protect it from these elements and extend its lifespan even further.
