Examples of such wood species include teak, cedar, and cypress or, you can go for CCA-treated SA pine or Eucalyptus, which is the more cost-effective option.

Using CCA-treated pine and Eucalyptus for coastal wood construction.

Pine is a softwood; this may have you rethinking the idea of using it at the coast. It just doesn’t make sense, right? On the contrary, it is just the perfect coastal wood construction once it is CCA-treated.

Eucalyptus, on the other hand, is a hardwood. Generally, hardwoods cannot be CCA-treated. This is because their dense structure makes it difficult for the solution to penetrate deep into the wood. However, Eucalyptus, particularly, has some sapwood around its hardwood. This makes it possible for the CCA chemicals to penetrate the wood, providing additional protection to the wood.

At Sabie poles, we add a certain wax chemical to our CCA mixture which provides extra protection against moisture while being protected against insects such as marine borers. This makes the wood ideal to use on the coast.
